MICHAEL SPURBECK

MICHAEL H. AND IDA K. CAIN SPURBECK

 

Michael H. Spurbeck was born in 1858 in New York. His parents were Henry and Sophia Barber Linch Spurbeck. Michael married Ida K. Cain on 5 August 1884 in Lakefield Township by Minister George W. Curser. Ida was born 1 July 1867 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan and her parents were Charles E. and Emily Smith Cain. At the time of Michael and Ida's marriage they were both living in Lakefield Township.

Michael and Ida had the following children:

  1. Jacob Spurbeck was born on 13 November 1885 in Lakefield Township. He died on 7 June 1962 and is buried in the Lakefield Township Cemetery.

  2. Inez Spurbeck was born 7 April 1886/1887 in Lakefield Township. She married August Keidel on 14 August 1910 in Marion Springs, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  3. Minnie Spurbeck was born 12 November 1889 in Lakefield Township. She married Edward Estep on 21 October 1907 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  4. Jennie Spurbeck was born 23 September 1891 in Lakefield Township. She married Emery Sova on 4 April 1910 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  5. Female infant Spurbeck was born 15 September 1893 in Lakefield Township and died on the 16 September 1893 in Lakefield Township.

  6. Emily M. Spurbeck was born February 1895.

  7. Mary Spurbeck was born April 1897.

  8. William E. Spurbeck was born 31 October 1898/1899 in Fremont Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and died on 29 November 1983.

  9. Seth Spurbeck was born 17 February 1901 in Fremont Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. He married Cora Bennis

  10. male infant Spurbeck was born in 1902 and died 18 November 1902 in Fremont Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  11. Nellie E. Spurbeck was born 20 September 1904 in Fremont Township. She married Wallace Cheslick.

  12. Martin Spurbeck was born in April 1908 and died in June 1908 and is buried in Lakefield Township Cemetery.

 

Michael was elected or appointed to the following Lakefield Township Offices:

  1. Elected as Constable 7 April 1879.

  2. Elected as Constable 5 April 1880.

  3. Elected as Constable 4 April 1881.

  4. Appointed to Overseer of Road District #1 on 5 April 1886.

  5. Appointed to Overseer of Road District #1 on 3 April 1893.

 

Sometime after 1895, Michael and his family moved to Fremont Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. They owned 80 acres in Section 6 of Fremont Township on Iva Road between Ederer and Swan Creek Roads.

 

Michael died in 1917 and Ida died on 1 January 1949. They are both buried in the Lakefield Township Cemetery.
