CARL AND CAROLINE KUDKY LIEDEKE WELKE

 

Carl Welke was born on November 18, 1853 in Klausdorf, Germany. Carl married Caroline Kudky Liedeke on November 27, 1879. Caroline's parents were Ernest and Caroline Kudky. Caroline was the widow of Karl Liedeke. Carl, Caroline and their family left from the Port of Hamburg, Germany on August 9, 1892 and entered the Port of Castle Garden, New York on August 20, 1892. The ship they crossed the Atlantic Ocean was called the Furst Bismarck.

Carl and Caroline's children were:

  1. Gustave O. Liedeke was born December 15, 1870 in Prussia. He married Bertha Arndt in 1898. Gustave died on August 7, 1952 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  2. Augusta M Liedeke was born August 21, 1872 in Prussia. She married George G. J. Zarbock in 1893. Augusta died on February 7, 1961 in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.

  3. Karl Paul Liedeke was born August 25, 1875 in Prussia. He married Emma Louise Krueger on November 15, 1902 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. He died September 12, 1955 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  4. Marie Liedeke was born November 16, 1877 in Prussia. She married John E. Opperman on April 27, 1906 in Allegan County, Michigan. Marie died on October 27, 1976 in Belmont, Kent County, Michigan.

  5. Otto Gustave Liedeke was born September 19, 1879 in Prussia. He married Bertha Augusta Krueger on November 18, 1903. Otto died on October 9, 1964 in Lakefield Township. Otto and Bertha are both buried in Lakefield Township Cemetery

  6. Richard Frank Welke was born March 25, 1887 in Prussia. Richard married Minnie Krueger on March 15, 1911 in Hemlock, Richland Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. Richard died on March 28, 1976 in Alma, Gratiot County, Michigan. Richard and Minnie are both buried in the Lakefield Township Cemetery.

  7. Anna Welke was born October 11, 1888 in Prussia. She married George Puls. Anna died on July 24, 1965 in Kent County, Michigan.

  8. Lena Minna Martha Welke was born August 23, 1891 in Prussia. She married Otto William Krueger on June 22, 1911 in Fremont Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. Lena died on December 3, 1960 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

In 1896, Carl and Caroline owned and operated a 40 acre farm in Section 16 on the west side of Fenmore Road between Roosevelt and Lakefield Roads. Their neighbors were: Barney McDonald, Jennette Parker, William Sandhoff, John Baker, Frank McDonald, Frank Glinke, John Barns, George Rigg, Joseph Tolfree, Edward Miller, Louis Baker and George Trudgeon.

 

Caroline died on April 3, 1919 and Carl died on January 5, 1932. They are both buried in the Lakefield Township Cemetery.
