William C. Galloway

 

WILLIAM C. AND MARTHA H. PALMITER GALLOWAY

 

William C. Galloway was born May 6, 1844 in Manvers Township, Durham County, Ontario, Canada. His parents were James and Deborah Camle/Crumle/Plumb Galloway and brother to Lakefield Township residents Ira John and Howard Galloway. William married Martha H. Palmiter.

 

William and Martha had the following children:

  1. Violet Victory Galloway was born April 29, 1870 in the City of Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. Violet died on April 25, 1910 in Kalamazoo Township, Kalamazoo County, Michigan.

  2. William C. Jr. Galloway was born in 1876 and died September 6, 1881 in Lakefield Township and is buried in the Lakefield Township Cemetery.

  3. Twin – Jennie M. Galloway was born July 31, 1878 in Lakefield Township.

  4. Twin – Minnie M. Galloway was born July 31, 1878 in Lakefield Township.

  5. Herbert Galloway was born February 18, 1881 in Lakefield Township. Herbert married Elsie May Donaldson on May 16, 1903. He died on April 18, 1921 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  6. Grace Galloway was born in 1884 and died in March 1900.

  7. Edith Galloway was born May 12, 1887 in Lakefield Township.

 

According to the 1880 Michigan Agriculture Census - William C. Galloway owned 7 tilled acres and 32 acres were woodland and forest.

 

William was elected or appointed to the following Lakefield Township Offices:

  1. April 1, 1878 Elected Justice of the Peace

  2. April 7, 1879 Appointed Justice of the Peace to fill Vacancy

  3. April 5, 1880 Elected Supervisor

  4. April 4, 1881 Elected Supervisor

  5. May 19, 1882 Appointed Lakefield and Fremont Townships problem resolver and dispute settler and notifier with both townships.

  6. April 2, 1883 Elected Supervisor

  7. April 7, 1884 Elected Supervisor

  8. April 6, 1885 Elected Supervisor

  9. April 5, 1886 Appointed Justice of the Peace to fill Vacancy

  10. April 5, 1886 Elected to School Inspector

  11. May 3, 1887 Appointed Board of Review

  12. April 2, 1888 Elected Supervisor

  13. April 1, 1889 Elected Supervisor

  14. April 7, 1890 Elected Supervisor

  15. April 19, 1890 Appointed Health Officer

 

By 1900, William C. is living in Merrill, Jonesfield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan with his family and is an implement dealer.

 

William C. Galloway died August 3, 1906 of Consumption at Central Lake, Antrium County, Michigan. Martha, William's wife, in 1910 is living at Central Lake with her daughter, Edith, and her husband Edwin C. Nelson and their son, Paul R. Nelson.
