John and Edna had the following children:

1. Vera M. Lauer was born in 1912 and died in 1933.

2. Jacob J. Lauer was born on February 13, 1914 in Lakefield Township and died February 25, 1928. He died at 14 years old and is buried in the LaPorte Cemetery, LaPorte, Midland County, Michigan.

3. Russell Lauer was born in 1922 and died 2008.

5. Duane Lauer was born 1929 and died 2007.

In 1920, John and his family are living in Lakefield Township but by 1935 they are living in LaPorte, Ingersoll Township, Midland County, Michigan.
