CHARLES SR. AND CATHERINE ELIZABETH BROWN ECKHART
Charles Eckhart Sr. was born on February 28, 1828 in Baden, Germany to Charles Eckhart. He married Catherine Elizabeth Brown in 1858 in New York. Catherine was born on 4 October 1827 in Germany; her parents were H. Brown and Catherine Sholtz. Charles Sr. came to the United States in 1857 and Catherine Brown Eckhart came to the United States in 1854.

Henry Eckhart was born in New York. He married Anna Schultz.
John M. Eckhart was born May 18, 1860 in New York. He married Mary Henning Eiseler on April 14, 1884 in Clinton County, Michigan. John died on March 29, 1906 in Jonesfield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.
Coney Eckhart was born in February 1867 in New York.
Charles Eckhart Jr. was born on September 1869 in Clinton County, Michigan. He married Maggie Raymond on April 11/22, 1903 in Ithaca, Gratiot County, Michigan. Charles Jr. died on July 3, 1934 in Marengo, Calhoun County, Michigan.

In 1880, Charles Sr. and his family were living in Bingham Township, Clinton County, Michigan. By 1896, a C. Eckhart are living in Lakefield Township, in Section 15 on a 20 acre farm on the north side of Lakefield Road between Merrill and Fenmore Roads. Also in the Saginaw County Plat Map, in 1896, a Charles Eckhart owns 40 acres on Swan Creek Road in Section 6 in Fremont Township between Steel and Iva Roads. Their neighbors were: William Schramm, John Wellington, David Badgero, George Robinson, Frank Baker, Alex Ogilvie, Jennette Parker, and Edward Miller.
Charles died on July 24, 1909 and his tombstone reads Charles “Egert” – Civil War – Company I – 177 N.Y. Infantry. The New York Town Clerk's registration of Men who served in the Civil War (1861 – 1865) states: Charles “Eghart” was born February 26, 1830 in Baden, Germany to Henry and Magdalina Litchner “Eghart”; he was married when he enlisted on October 1862 in Bethlehem, Albany, New York as a Private in Company I in the 177 New York Infantry.
Catherine Elizabeth Eckhart died on July 6, 1901 and is buried alongside her husband, Charles, in the Lakefield Township Cemetery.
