Lewis Agner

LEWIS E. AND GERTRUDE DOTY AGNER

 

Lewis Agner was born March 18, 1882 in Ohio. His parents were Elias Cheney and Aurella Lovell Agner. Lewis married Gertrude Doty on October 27, 1904 in Putnam County, Ohio. She was born October 16, 1884 Columbus Grove, Putnam County, Ohio to James Polk and Rachel Virginia Hulbert Doty.

 

Lewis and Gertrude had the following children:

  1. Signora Amarella Agner was born in Blanchard, Putnam County, Ohio

  2. Mabel Agner was born March 16, 1907 in Ottawa Township, Putnam County, Ohio and was married to Albert Lawrence Galloway. She died on May 24, 1994 and both, Albert and Mabel are buried in Lakefield Township Cemetery.

  3. Lucina Agner was born September 17, 1908 in Ottawa Township, Putnam County, Ohio.

  5. May F. Agner

  6. Sarah A Agner was born 1914 in Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan and married Harold Hinterman; he was born July 15, 1908 in Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan.

  7. Elias “James” Agner was born February 18, 1918 in Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. On April 5, 1937 James Agner was voted in as a constable for Lakefield Township. He was registered as a Democrat.

 

According to the 1916 plat map, Lewis and Gertrude Agner owned an 80 acre farm on Nelson Rd in Section 25 of Lakefield Township. Their neighbors were Calvin Harris, Arthur McConnel, Erick Hagerman and John McDonald all living on Nelson Road.

 

Lewis passed away on June 16, 1917 after living in Lakefield Township with his family for only approximately 6 years. He passed away due to Peritonitis. He was buried in Pandorah, Ohio.

 

Gertrude and her family moved back to Putnam County, Ohio after the death of her husband, Lewis.

 

In a newspaper article from the Lima News, Lima, Ohio on November 15, 1945; Gertrude passed away at the home of her daughter, Mabel Galloway, in Ithaca, Michigan. Gertrude was buried in Ohio.
