Daniel Morden

                       DANIEL AND CHARLOTTE ANN FERRIS MORDEN

Daniel Morden was born in April 1842 in Canada to Daniel and Mary/Fannie Cripps. He married Charlotte Ann Ferris on November 7, 1867 in Walsingham Township, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada. Charlotte's brother was James Simmon Ferris of Lakefield Township. Daniel's sister was Arabella Evoy.

 

Daniel and Charlotte had the following children:

  1. Charles A. Morden was born August 4, 1868 in Canada. He married Julia Shebester on December 28, 1892. They lived on a 20 acre farm in Section 22 of Lakefield Township on the north side of Nelson Road between Merrill and Fenmore Roads. Charles was appointed to Exit Gatekeeper for the Board of Elections on April 4, 1898.    Julia died on November 18, 1900 and is buried in the Lakefield Township Cemetery. Later, Charles married Myrtie Kenny in 1917. Charles died on November 6, 1946 and is buried in the Lakefield Township Cemetery.

  2. Mary Omenia Morden was born October 21, 1870 in Walsingham Township, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada.

  3. James “Thomas” Morden was born May 29, 1873 in Walsingham Township, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada. He married Irene and they were living in Lakefield Township with their children; Morrice, Evert, Edi, and Daniel Morden in 1900. Thomas and Irene are both buried in Lakefield Township Cemetery.

  4. Edward Earnest Morden was born October 31, 1879 in Raleigh Township, Kent County, Ontario, Canada.

  5. Fredrick Morden was born in 1880 in Canada. He married Annie Hubbell on October 1, 1903 in Midland, Midland County, Michigan

Daniel was elected as Constable to Lakefield Township on April 17, 1890.

 

Charlotte Morden died on June 30, 1890 in Lakefield Township of consumption.

 

Daniel married widow, Jenny Brown Vondette, on January 21, 1891 in Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. After their marriage, Jenny and Daniel lived on Jenny's  25 acre farm in Section 2 on the east side of Merrill Road between Ederer and Swan Creek Roads in Lakefield Township. Daniel and Jenny lived in Lakefield Township from the time of their marriage in 1891 until sometime before 1920. In 1920, they were living in St. Louis, Gratiot County, Michigan.  In 1896, their neighbors were: Martin Price, Alex Vondett, Edd Vondett, Frank Seymour, John Seymour, Jesse Baker and Joseph Method.

 

Daniel died November 22, 1925 in Wheeler, Gratiot County, Michigan and Jenny Brown Vondette Morden died on December 3, 1925 in St. Louis, Gratiot County, Michigan.
