ALBERT SHAW

ALBERT HUGH AND PHEMA CLARK SHAW

 

Albert Hugh Shaw was born 8 December 1841 in Wethersfield Springs, Wyoming County, New York. His parents were Alvin and Jane Fuller Shaw. Albert Shaw enlisted in Company H, Michigan Infantry Regiment on 19 August 1862 in Clinton County, Michigan as a Private. He mustered out at Delaney House, Washington, D.C. On 3 June 1865.

 

Albert married Phema Clark on 9 September 1876 in Central Lake, Antrim County, Michigan by Daniel Blakely, Justice of the Peace. Phema was born 14 February 1856 in Gratiot County, Michigan; her parents were John and Elizabeth Morris Clark.

 

Albert and Phema had the following children:

  1. Chisty Mae Shaw. She married Matthew Morse on 2 October 1893 in Ashley, Gratiot County, Michigan.

  2. Tiddy Elizabeth was born 18 April 1877 in Gratiot County. She married Arthur Scofield on 25 September 1897 in Ithaca, Gratiot County, Michigan

  3. Delbert Shaw was born 19 June 1880 in Gratiot County, Michigan. He married Fern Seeley on 22 November 1905 in Ithaca, Gratiot County, Michigan.

  4. William Shaw was born 2 August 1883 in Lakefield Township, Saginaw County, Michigan. He married Carrie Ackles in Ithaca, Gratiot County, Michigan, on 30 August 1906 by Isaac S. Seavers, Judge of Probate.

  5. Alta B. Shaw was born 1 May 1890 in Gratiot County,. She married Albert Moon.

  6. Albert Eugene Shaw.

 

While Albert and his family were living in Lakefield Township he was appointed or elected to the following offices:

  1. Appointed Overseer of Highways in Road District #2 on 3 April 1882.

  2. Elected as Lakefield Township Constable on 6 April 1885.

 

By 1890, Albert and his family were living in Washington Township, Gratiot County, Michigan.

 

Albert died on 8 October 1922 in Ashley, Gratiot County, Michigan. Phema died on 12 January 1943 in Ashley, Gratiot County, Michigan. They are both buried in the North Star Cemetery,
